Mira Davida
Papilio Misericordia, 2025
Glas
13 x 18 x 19 cm
12 000 kr
Part of the Imaginature series, Papilio Misericordia takes the fragile form of a butterfly, rendered in flameworked borosilicate glass. The butterfly—long a symbol of transformation, fragility, and the fleeting nature of life—is here paired with the notion of misericordia, a Latin term for compassion and mercy. Together, they evoke a meditation on vulnerability and care: a reminder that delicacy and strength coexist in the same gesture. Created during the artist’s time as a Teaching Assistant at Pilchuck Glass School in the United States, the work unites technical precision with poetic symbolism, capturing a moment of luminous stillness.

I’m Mira Davida, a Hungarian-born glass artist now based in Stockholm, Sweden. From my studio, I create handmade glass pieces that move between sculpture, design, and functional objects. Glass is my way of exploring the fragile line between nature and the surreal—I often find myself shaping forms inspired by plants, creatures that exist only in imagination, and dreamlike worlds.
For me, nature is both a material and a muse. Working with glass allows me to honor the traditions of this craft while bringing them into a contemporary space, where each piece can hold both heritage and a sense of the spiritual.
If you’d like to follow along with my process and see glimpses of new works, I share updates regularly on Instagram (@miradavidaglass).
