Olha Kriuchkovska
TranasFödd: 1994
Olha Kriuchkovska is an artist born in Kherson, Ukraine. In 2017, she received a master's degree in graphic design from KhNTU. Her work focuses on themes of the environment and collective trauma. The war and occupation she witnessed in her hometown inspired her to explore various topics, and nature serves as a source of inspiration. Nature prompts Olha to explore the chaos and order that are inherent parts of our environment. Her current practice reflects her desire to raise awareness about the consequences of war and advocate for a more sustainable future.
In August 2022, Olha was invited to evacuate to Sweden under a program for artists from dangerous regions of Ukraine – "Artists at Risk". She received support from curators of the national organization SWAN, who invited her to a residency in Lapland, in the village of Bratten. There, she lived for 5 months and created a large number of graphic and painting works. Now Olha lives and works in Småland, in the city of Tranås, where she is inspired by the Swedish nature and expresses her thoughts in various forms.
